"And, of course, art does not even try to present any final answers. What is essential to Kallinen in making art is to consent that ”there is always friction between people, and if we could but make that friction felt. Performances are not made just to get people to sit down pleasantly together and share the same opinion… Rather, the way I see it, we need to create a space where we can accept the Other’s existence even if we fail to understand it. If something feels too contradictory or impossible or overwhelming, we far too easily opt to close our eyes. Instead of living through the contradiction or impossibility. This is what I think should be practised on stage, but not only there.”
